And if you're doing church in this way, then that is all cool man. I mean that with all sincerity as possible. That type of church might work for you. I'm not telling you to ditch your Christ in a box or your well-groomed pastor that might pop out of there too, sort of like a Jack in the Box. Because, honestly, if that works for you then keep it.
Keep rediscovering Jesus over and over again by whatever means possible. If you find Him in a McDonald's Happy Meal - Happy Meal Jesus figurine - then cool. If you find Him in a Cracker Jack Box, excellent. If you find Him as your Homeboy and you buy that shirt, then I am glad you are showing off the King of Kings. If you find Him at Newbury Comics bobbing His head around standing six inches short - not sure if that plastic midget Jesus would even fit in your heart, just talking biology here - and you buy Him and bring Him home to perpetually bobble His head in your room, then bro, we're the same; I've already been there and done that.
This is not me downplaying the reverence due to Christ. You will understand that in time. "Our Father hallowed be Thy name." You will see that high regard in all the world once you are in tune with the rising and setting sun. For now, discover and rediscover Jesus wherever you can.
By the way, don't you think that's how God did it? He took us from all different walks of life and displaced us onto His path. He didn't wait till we were well-groomed or attempting to be for Sunday Service's sake; or until we were well-versed theologians; or until we said all the right words like, "heck" for "hell," "shoot" for "sh*#," "darn" for "damn," "friggin'," "frig," "funk-eee" like you almost said it but reverted to a 70s dance era at the last moment and then those other non-cuss words you only ever hear Christians say. He took us from where we were no matter the cesspools we created for ourselves and displaced us to where He wanted us to be.
I'm thinking the beauty of God to take us from wherever we were to His calling is a facet to that kingdom of heaven being a treasure. Just saying.
